This was my first read that included a con artist and boy was it an enjoyable ride. Lila and Nick grew up together, struggling for money and soon realized it was easier to swindle what they needed from the more affluent. Lila and Nick are enrolled at a small private college which of course they blackmailed the dean so that it appears they are on scholarship. Lila is enjoying a more straight and narrow life but Nick can't seem to let go of their old life. Nick asks Lila to take part in one final con and then they are both leaving their old lives behind.

The chemistry between Lila and Nick at the beginning is fantastic. Best friends that clearly could be more. Lila has wanted Nick for most of her life and she believes that they will eventually be the end game for each other. Nick is the bad boy you love to adore and you are rooting for him so hard. The complicated twist to the story is the final con involves a mark named Tucker who may be irresistible to Lila. Tucker is hard not to adore. He has a tragic back story and seems to be the campus king on their small college campus. Elizabeth Lee makes you love and hate both Tucker and Nick and it is hard to pick a team. It is nice to see Lila really think through her decisions on her relationships with both guys.

There is really so much to love about Lisa's books: great characters, sexy scenes, and there is always a good twist in the plot. A Little Too Hot definitely is another steamy, sexy page turner. This book is the story of Samantha, Lexi's former best friend and the girl that was head over heels in love with Trent (Book 1 of the series). After her heart was horribly destroyed by Lexi and Trent, Sam started to spiral out of control with constant partying. Her mother threw her out of the house, which left poor Sam without a place to sleep, money and a family. The only person she could count on was her friend Jonathan,who helped her in finding job in a night club, where she became a dancer. She didn’t have to take off her clothes (so she wasn't quite a stripper), but she was definitely dancing for hordes of dollar waving men.

On her first night, she locks eyes with a drool worthy guy who made her seriously get into the mood. Sam can't pinpoint what it is about this guy but he makes her feel things that she has never felt before. The club has rules and one of them is no touching…Sam let's the mystery guy Harrison touch her during a private dance and the plot begins to unravel from there. I can honestly say the plot took a most unexpected turn. The story that Harrison gives Sam during his private dances is only part of his story and Sam has no idea what she is getting herself into with this man.

If you haven't read the other two books, I suggest you read those as well. A Little Too Hot is sizzling, steamy and surprising. Lisa always makes me speechless at least once in her books and this one proved no different! Anyone would want Sam as a friend: she is compassionate, understand and loyal to a fault. Harrison is the guy we all want in our lives: strong, sexy as hell, and always doing the right thing even if it might be difficult! This is a definite read!

Book Review: Elect (Eagle Elite #2) by Rachel Van Dyken (advanced copy review)

Nixon Abandonato has sacrificed a good deal to honor his family. He has made a lot of enemies throughout the years and everyone he cares about is a liability. Tracey (Trace) is the girl he grew up loving and continues to love now, but being with him is dangerous. If the wrong people find out how he feels, they will use her to hurt him. He loves her more than anything, so he will do whatever he has to do to keep her safe, even if that means saying goodbye.

Nixon asks Chase ito be Trace’s bodyguard. Chase and Nixon are bestfriends and cousins. They grew up together and have been inseparable since they were kids, and they would do anything for each other. So of course Chase will protect Trace, the girl Nix loves, but there is one huge problem...Chase is falling in love with her too. Then Tracey’s life is threatened, and the only way to protect her is to pretend that she is Chase’s girlfriend. Chase was already hanging by a thread, and now he’s not sure how he’s going to stop himself from completely falling.

Elect is the sequel to Elite and I have to tell you it was fantastic. I wasn't expecting the change of POV. This book alternates between Nixon and Chase. You get a chance to know Nixon so much better. He had a rough childhood, but he was born to be a leader. Even at such a young age his presence demands respect and he has earned it. He has always been selfless and did what was best for his family. You really get to see how far he will go to protect the people he loves. Honestly, I fell even more in love with Nixon reading his chapters.

I am drawn to Chase. I'm not sure if that is because you know he is doomed to failure as the best friend/side kick. He is a laid back kind of guy and much less serious than Nixon. He is not as serious as Nixon but doesn't have to be as he is not the leader of their family. He is witty, funny and lightens the mood even in dire circumstances. It is a nice contrast to the scenes where he is required to be tough and deadly. He has a great sense of loyalty to his family and especially Nixon and I enjoyed seeing his angst at thoughts of betraying Nixon with Trace. Unfortunately, Chase really cares about Trace and in some ways he is actually a much better match for her. I really loved Chase, and honestly I can’t wait to see what happens for him in the next book.

This book had an overall darker, more violent vibe but I think that should be expected with the dualing male POVs. I did miss hearing from Trace and I think it would have been nice to have her POV thrown in their at times. The concept for this story is enjoyable because you are rooting for the "bad" guys since they are all part of the mafia. Rachel really knows how to surprise you with the endings. I have no idea where the next book is going to go and I look forward to reading it soon! According to her, the 3rd book is her favorite! I'm ready because it sounds like it will not disappoint!
